A focus on preventive dentistry helps you maintain the highest standard of oral health and limiting dental expenditures. A partnership between you and our team pays dividends, protecting your smile now and well into the future. With a regular preventive schedule, we can remove the bacterial deposits that lead to dental disease. Our team is dedicated to keeping you healthy, and free of common dental issues like cavities and gum disease. During every routine appointment, you’ll receive a comprehensive exam and standard cleaning to ensure that any issues are caught early before they become bigger problems.
YOUR CLEANING VISIT
A dental prophylaxis is a cleaning procedure performed to thoroughly clean your teeth. It is an important dental treatment for halting the progression of periodontal disease and gingivitis. Our hygienist will give you a professional cleaning and check for any signs of decay or cavities. These regular visits will give you peace of mind that your oral health is taken care of and ensure that your teeth and gums are strong.
The earliest stage of tooth decay is characterized by “soft spots” that occur when tooth enamel has been weakened, but a cavity has not yet fully formed. Fluoride treatments are used to halt and reverse this early stage of decay and protect your teeth from further damage.
Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth. The treatment is completely painless and non-invasive, and it only takes a few minutes. If we notice soft spots on your teeth during a routine exam, we’ll suggest a fluoride treatment to get your smile back to optimal health.
Dental sealants consist of a special type of dental resin, which is painted onto the grooves of your teeth. It forms a barrier that protects the tooth and helps prevent decay and cavities from developing. Sealants are a great option for children and patients who are more prone to cavities. Ask about dental sealants during your next appointment!
ORAL CANCER SCREENING
Oral cancer screenings are recommended to all patients, especially those who conform to common risk factors, such as heavy sun exposure, tobacco use, HPV infection. We perform oral cancer screenings as part of each preventive appointment, and each screening only takes a few minutes. We also offer the Identafi system, a Multi-Spectral Fluorescence and Reflectance technology which is used to enhance visualization of mucosal abnormalities such as oral cancer or premalignant dysplasia that may not be apparent to the naked eye. Ask about Identafi during your next appointment!
Periodontal disease affects nearly half of American adults, though many people don’t even know they have the condition. Signs and symptoms of the early stages of gum disease include bleeding when you brush and floss, inflamed gums, and a receding gum line. If you notice any of these symptoms, contact us today for periodontal treatment. We offer scaling and root planing (deep cleaning), antibiotics, and Perio Protect Method™ to help prevent and treat all stages of gum disease.
The innovative Perio Protect Method™ utilizes the patented, non-invasive Perio Tray™ with a customized sealing system that is proven to deliver medication deep into periodontal pockets, where toothbrushes, rinsing and flossing fail to reach. These customized trays end the cycle of disease by extending treatment from the dental chair to the comfort of home. They’re also the only periodontal medicine delivery mechanism with FDA clearance.
